a new adventure….

a few years back i discovered that i really enjoyed taking pictures, not just for the memories but the actual act of taking the picture. looking at something or someone and capturing that moment. i bought my first fancy camera, a nikon d40, and starting shooting. it wasn’t until 2010 when i got pregnant that i really thought about making something of this new-found hobby. my husband and i had maternity pictures taken by an amazing local photographer, karla banks, and during the shoot i started to think maybe i could do this. since then I’ve taken a few photography boot camps and have had the opportunity to spend time with a professional photographer and practice. flash forward to today, my amazing husband (I’m a lucky girl!) bought me a big girl camera, a nikon d700, and i decided that i was ready to put it to good use!  so here i am launching my blog, which at first will be my ramblings on about starting my own business. this summer i plan to spend a lot of time shooting friends and family to build my portfolio because as much as i love shooting my son (he is pretty cute!) – i need to diversify! so here we go…..welcome to n|smith|photography: capturing life’s little moments!
